MRF Regularization Models For Adaptive Binarization Of Non-Uniform Images

چکیده
In this paper, we present two connected MRF models, the edge-preserving smoothing model followed by the modified standard regularization, for the adaptive binarization of the non-uniform images in the presence of noise. In particular, we have developed the computational model for the modified standard regularization method to be used to calculate the adaptive threshold surface for noisy images. Since the modified standard regularization depends only on image data, and not its edge segments, it gives much better performance and can be applied to more classes of images than those methods which rely on edge segments. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method has the best performance over three other commonly used adaptive segmentation methods, and it is faster than previous interpolation-based thresholding techniques. متن کاملForeground-Background Regions Guided Binarization of Camera-Captured Document Images
Binarization is an important preprocessing step in several document image processing tasks. Nowadays handheld camera devices are in widespread use, that allow fast and flexible document image capturing. But, they may produce degraded grayscale image, especially due to bad shading or non-uniform illumination. State-of-the-art binarization techniques, which are designed for scanned images, do not...
متن کاملAdaptive Binarization of Unconstrained Hand-Held Camera-Captured Document Images
This paper presents a new adaptive binarization technique for degraded hand-held camera-captured document images. The state-of-the-art locally adaptive binarization methods are sensitive to the values of free parameter. This problem is more critical when binarizing degraded camera-captured document images because of distortions like non-uniform illumination, bad shading, blurring, smearing and ...
متن کاملA New Local Adaptive Thresholding Technique in Binarization
Image binarization is the process of separation of pixel values into two groups, white as background and black as foreground. Thresholding plays a major in binarization of images. Thresholding can be categorized into global thresholding and local thresholding. In images with uniform contrast distribution of background and foreground like document images, global thresholding is more appropriate....
متن کاملHybrid Binariztion Technique for Historical Manuscripts
This paper presents a new hybrid approach for the binarization and enhancement of Historical Manuscript. This paper deals with degradations which occur due to shadows, non-uniform illumination, low contrast and strain. We follow two distinct method of Binarization with a pre-processing procedure using a adaptive Wiener filter, a rough estimation of foreground regions and a background surface ca...
